What's this tour about?

Let’s get into the Olympic spirit! Munich wouldn’t be the same without the 1972 Summer Games. Discover how they influenced the city’s infrastructure as we walk through the pedestrian zone in the heart of Munich. A subway ride will take us to the original sites of the Games. Enjoy the breathtaking architecture of the park and its buildings with their tent-like roofs. From high above on the Olympic Tower, you will have unforgettable views of Munich and the Bavarian Alps. We will stroll past the headquarters of car manufacturer BMW and the adjacent museum and plant. After all this walking, the tram will drive us through Schwabing, once famous as Munich's bohemian quarter and still popular for its elegant town houses and many bars, clubs, and restaurants.

Walk

This tour is a walk in the park – need we say more?

See

The panoramic view of Munich from 190 meters above ground is breathtaking. Explore the original sites of the 1972 Summer Games and find out where Mark Spitz won his seven gold medals.

Taste

Enjoy fresh pretzels and a beer while we explain how Munich’s most central Biergarten is connected with the Games. A nice cup of coffee in the park will round up our tour.

Tour Itinerary

Visit St. Mary's Square and the pedestrian zone, the churches St. Peter and Holy Spirit, Viktualienmarkt, Hofbräuhaus, BMW, Olympic Tower, Olympic Stadium, Olympic lake and park, the district of Schwabing and more.

You’ll Never Walk Alone

Our tour starts at Marienplatz, Munich’s center of old and new times. Where you would have been once surrounded by motorized traffic, you will now find a pedestrian zone and Munich’s busiest shopping area since the 1970s.

Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit

At the Viktualienmarkt, we’ll taste the queen of all Bavarian delicacies: the pretzel, best when washed down with a beer. We will walk to the most royal of all beer halls, the Hofbräuhaus, and hear about its role during the 1972 Olympics.

A Walk in the Park

The subway will take us to the Olympic Park, world-famous for its revolutionary contemporary architecture. From high up on Munich’s highest tower – yes, there’s an elevator – our eyes will wander from the city and beyond to the massive Bavarian Alps.

Baby You Can Drive My Car

Car passionistas, listen up! You’re right on the spot where BMW started to become one of the world’s most famous car manufacturers. The BMW World, made of glass and steel, is another architectural masterpiece.

Like a Bohemian Rhapsody

Time for a coffee break before we get into the tram to take us through the districts of Schwabing and Maxvorstadt. Former home to poets, painters and writers in the late 19th century, it is still Munich’s university hub with lots of restaurants and cafés, art galleries and museums, shops and parks.
